We just spent 3 nights at Chaa Creek. What an amazing place! Two couples shared the complete Jacuzzi/Garden Suite. The cottage is a huge palapa, divided into 2 private suites. The rooms and the bathrooms are large and furnished very attractively with rustic Indonesian style furniture. Each suite has it’s own patio, complete with hammocks.
The restaurant and bar are just amazing. They’re indoor/outdoor with torches and candles burning at night. We thought the food was very good, well prepared and locally grown. The new pool really adds to resort, after a long morning of hiking it felt incredible. The spa is gorgeous, we had massages and felt great afterwards!
The staff was wonderful, friendly and warm. Joe picked us up at the airport, and we liked him so much we requested him for the drive to Placencia. Besides being a student of cultural anthropology, he teaches at the local college. In his spare time he works at Chaa Creek. It was like having our own private guide.
One day we took the Caracol tour, first stopping at the Rio On cave, and at the Rio Frio river on the way home. The ruins are really impressive, and we got to see monkeys! Another day we requested a cooler of beer and the staff provided ti without any problems. We canoed up the river and sat on the bank, and watched the world go by. I could easily spend a week at Chaa Creek.
