BelizeBelize lives in my heart and in my day dreams. I fell in love with my sweetheart in Belize. Just the word Belize makes my toes wiggle as through they were in sand instead of dress shoes. I can smell the vanilla scent of One Barrel and taste the remnants of the Jerk meal I just devoured. The whisper of the word Belize makes my ears reach for the sound of the wind in the trees and the call of the birds. I feel as though the week that I spent in Belize was the best dream I ever had. It is a magic place at the cross roads with ancient human civilizations and awesome geographical formations. The mountains and the sea. The gorgeous butterflies and astonishing birds. Animals big and small living in some of the most beautiful country in the world. The elegant mix of people of Latin, South and Indigenous American decent and the smooth rolling language of those of African heritage. The colorful and brutal human history of colonization and slave trade. The best way to respect the natural and human history of Belize is with ecological conservation. Make people slow, stop and listen. Listen to Belize. I keep trying to follow the directions and write a proper essay-but it is impossible. What would the thesis be? The Lodge at Chaa Creek is the perfect place to celebrate our 5-year anniversary. We are on the brink of the decision to start a family. We feel that we must visit Belize, the heartland of our love before we embark on the next phase of our lives. While at your lodge we will listen, laugh, love, explore, adventure, share and show our gratitude. Our gratitude to The Lodge and to Belize. Thank you for this opportunity.
