Nature Quest Sweepstakes – Essay#12

My fiancé and I are adventure-travelers. Yes, we enjoy going to the beach for sun, sand, and lounge chairs, just like most vacationing couples do but what we really love are enriching retreats that encourage us to stretch our minds and bodies.

That’s why we’ve chosen Belize as our honeymoon destination. The majesty of lush tropical rainforest and mystery of the Ancient Maya coupled with white sand islands and a spectacular barrier reef make this our ideal getaway. And The Lodge at Chaa Creek is the perfect home base, offering balanced doses of adventure, culture, and relaxation.

What better way to spend our first blissful days as newlyweds than in this private, tucked-away reserve, surrounded by 365 acres of natural beauty? And yet a stay at Chaa Creek means we’ll take pleasure in the rainforest’ trail riding, hiking, and watching for Toucans and Mot-Mots! Without sacrificing our own creature comforts. The rooms are inviting and the meals are fresh, prepared with local produce from their very own organic farm.

Chaa Creek’s location is perfect for enjoying the best the inland has to offer and their guided tours ensure we’ll get to do a little of everything without the stress of hunting down tour operators, packing lunches, and figuring out itineraries on our own. We’ll take in the amazing Maya architecture at Tikal; navigate the Macal River by canoe; and explore the cave systems and Maya artifacts within Actun Tunichil Muknal. And after our rainforest experience, we’ll have the perfect retreat at Chaa Creek’s spa to rejuvenate with a massage and aromatherapy.

A stay at Chaa Creek would be our dream honeymoon, one that will celebrate the start of our new life together and create life-long memories for our future. It’s sure to be a vacation we will never forget!
