Thank you for offering this contest and opportunity to write about our desire to visit Belize and your eco-tourism resort. Belize has been the dream destination of my wife and I for nearly 20 years. Through our years together, our ecological values have led us in our travels, to explore natural environments and engage in outdoor adventures as much as possible. We’ve hiked up mountain peaks, seen the tallest and oldest trees in the world, rafted down white water rivers, kayaked coastal areas and played in desert environments – with most of our travels being close to home in North America. However, our limited funds have prevented us from visiting many of the places in the world that we have read so much about – with Belize being at the top of that list. We have not yet been able to experience the sensations of the tropical rainforest, see and learn about the history of the Central American peoples, or explore a coastal reef ecosystem. When we travel we always look for the ecologically and culturally respectful way to discover and engage with the local environment and peoples and appreciate your efforts to open up Belize to visitors with out travel hopes and dreams. Your resort’s combination of high quality accommodation and food and access to physical adventure and intellectual stimulation, with the guidance of knowledgeable and supportive staff, seems like the optimal way to visit this area of Belize. We are interested in all that Belize has to offer including seeing the ruins of past civilizations, experiencing the sights and sounds of the rainforest environment and the thrill of the challenging physical activities. We look forward to coming to Belize, hopefully in the near future, so that we can see, hear, taste, smell and touch the wonders of this country.
