Nature Quest Sweepstakes – Essay#26
Rich and I have been together 3 years and have yet to experience an international adventure together. We planned on making 2009 our first Holiday away from home. After weeks of indecision, I began to think this may not be the year for our adventure. Then, I received a text message from Rich that simply stated,” I have decided we are going to Belize“. Without hesitation, the endless research and planning began!
To recap a bit…last Fall Rich decided to leave California and live with distant relatives in Central America. The next three months he traveled through El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Guatemala. He stayed at hostels, learned Spanish, visited Mayan ruins and traveled on Chicken Buses from town to town. It was a life-changing experience I could only dream of.
Three months later Rich and I reunited when he returned to California. Over the months he has shared hundreds of photos along with an equal number of stories. A native of Wisconsin, I have always longed to encounter creatures of the Rainforest, ancient ruins and the jungles of Central America. The idea of sharing this adventure with Rich is amazing.
Stumbling across Chaa Creek Resort was the cherry on top! It is an oasis within Belize’s tropical rainforest in the foothills of the Mayan Mountains along the banks of the Macal River. The activities are endless – nestled within a 365-acre nature reserve. You could choose to canoe the Macal River, hike the Rainforest Medicine Trail, swim in their eco-friendly pool, or indulge yourself at the Chaa Creek Spa, Being pampered at Chaa Creek while submersed in an unspoiled environment meets my every expectation for a romantic, adventurous vacation. The Chaa Creek Resort is an adventurer’s paradise and soon to be ours.
