A Belize Family Vacation (Essay#6)

Welcome to a world so steeped in history that one needs only to open one’s eyes if you are looking to be fascinated. A family vacation in Belize is worth a hundred social studies classes for children. And a great way for mom and dad to experience first hand, what they were once taught from books.
Hiking through temples or snorkeling the reefs, there is more to discover than you could ever imagine. There is archaeological mystery hidden above and below the earth that are waiting to be discovered by you and your family. Gold, ruins, architecture, and natural wonders are all a part of Belize.

Belize Facts

Things I Learned in Belize

Belize is the Best! I’ve been to my share of Caribbean destinations: the Windward Islands of St. Lucia, St. Vincent and Grenada; the Leeward Islands of Anguilla, St. Barth’s, St. Martin & Antigua; as well as the Cayman Islands. I’d have to say Belize is my favorite Caribbean destination, edging out my former favorite, Grenada. Both Grenada and Belize have some of the same high scores on my Caribbeo Meter: lots of varied terrain, nice beaches, interesting culture, friendly people and lack of high-rise hotels and mass tourism. Both countries let you experience everything from the beach to rainforests to traditional cutlures.

The Importance of Hope, the Harpy Eagle

Once upon a time quite long ago, the majestic and powerful Harpy Eagle was the alpha predator in many parts of Central America. Through habitat loss, the Harpy was on the verge of extinction, but through a programme by the Peregrine Fund with partnership of the Belize Zoo, the largest Eagle of the Americas is making a comeback. And they are doing particularly well in Belize.
While the first one, named Panama, came to the Belize Zoo in 2003 the idea …

Belize, located in Central America, shares borders with Mexico to the north and Guatemala to the west, stretching in length along the Caribbean Sea to its east. Composed of many cultures speaking a variety of languages, Belize, once under British rule, is oddly the only country in Central America where English is the official language. Although it’s a small country, roughly the size of Massachusetts, getting from place to place can take the better part of a day. So with an eight-day trip, we narrowed down our visits to two different regions, one in the western part of Belize and one in the southeast.

Family Vacation Sweepstakes Essay#4

I would like our first ever vacation as a family to be to Chaa Creek in Belize. My husband and I honeymooned there two years ago and vowed to come back as a family. We had such an amazing, eye-opening, life-changing experience, that we cannot wait to share it with those we love most. This year, two has become three and the love of our life, our wide-eyed 4-month-old boy, is a sponge. We want him to absorb all the beauty that Chaa Creek has to offer.
