As long-time travelers to Belize, friends at Victoria House recommended we experience the unique and eco-friendly Lodge at Chaa Creek. The chic palmthatched Orchard Villa was our home during the 4-day stay that included a wide array of activities. From the archeological exploration by horseback of the vast nature reserve, the tour of the on-site Mayan farm, to the Butterfly Farm, each day was full of incredible experiences. Olivia (our child) was given her own butterfly chrysalis to keep in the room and observe its development during our stay. What a magical event it was to watch the Blue Morpho emerge and be released with a special wish.
From exploring the banks of the Macal River to the Mayan ruins at Xunantunich, our Belize vacation was a unique adventure travel experience coupled with ultimate luxury comforts of a top rated lodge. By gearing unique activities towards children and families, our vacation was educational on many levels. Donning spelunker head lights on the night walk unveiled nocturnal species rarely witnessed. The treasure hunt throughout the property explaining Mayan history was educational for the children – and the young at heart – in our group.
After all the activities, it was a luxurious indulgence to enjoy the panoramic view from The Spa while having the 90-minute “Coma” massage. Each day, we enjoyed the most incredibly fresh cuisine that highlighted the organically grown fruits and vegetables that were harvested on property. Each menu selection featured the freshest ingredients coupled with innovative culinary techniques.
The simple pleasure of relaxing at the infinity pool was made more enjoyable by the fantastic service. Ultimately, it is the dedication and demeanor of the staff that left a lasting impression and wanting us to visit again for another Chaa Creek adventure. We cannot wait to return!
