Belize Ecotourism Vacation Sweepstakes- Essay#12
Lush jungles, exotic birds and flowers and a plethora of animal life, unlike anything seen in the backyard. That is what I think of when I think of Chaa Creek. To be encompassed in a world of natural beauty would be a heavenly experience indeed.
Sadly, each day our world becomes a little less green.  So we must take steps to minimize our negative impact on our environment, while increasing awareness and  appreciation for
nature and diverse cultures.  I believe in the policy of reduce, reuse, and recycle, the same way Chaa Creek does. We have been involved in starting a local recycling program. I love that Chaa Creek recycles trash into concrete walkways and composes vegetable and fruit scraps to enrich the garden.   And of course it is much more fun to hike or horseback ride than it is to take motorized vehicles. The rain forest has such a
biodiversity of plants and animals, which is why it is important to preserve  this environment. That is why I am so impressed that the Belizean government has chosen to protect this resource. I came from a farming background and believe in handing the land down to future generations. Chaa Creek is a pioneer in the field
of  ecotourism, as shown in the many accolades it has received. The area around Chaa Creek has something for everyone. For the history buff there is the ancient Mayan ruins. For the adventurer, there is cave exploring, for the bird watcher there are more than 308 species of birds. And for those who just want to relax in a tranquil setting there is a hammock. Like I said, something foe everyone. Chaa creek and the “Go Green” initiative are setting the gold standard for how resorts can commit not only to their customers, but to the environment as well.
