Chaa Creek Made our Belize Wedding Unforgettable!!

21 December 2010 No Comment

From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for a perfect stay. Joe, who picked us up at the airport, offered plenty of information about Belize and was very passionate about his country. Our cottage was gorgeous!! The bed was huge and beautiful, the shower could fit 8 people easily, and the outdoor shower and porch (with hammocks) were special treats. Our room came with a complimentary pupa (which hatched on our wedding day and we released the lovely blue morpho butterfly). The next day we really got to enjoy the beauty of the lodge. The grounds are just as good looking as the room!

We arrived at the hotel after dark, and were escorted to our room and then to dinner. We were blown away at dinner by the outstanding service and incredible food! The food is to die for! Fortunately our vacation package came with meals included, because we were not prepared for the high prices. But, the food was so delicious, the prices would have been worth it. On top of dinner, we enjoyed several evenings hanging out at the bar and chatting with the guys who work there and other guests. Definitely try BOTH Belikins (I think one is a lager and the other is a darker beer, not quite a stout). Both are really good brews.

When we arrived, Denise helped us set up our adventures and massage, and made sure we had everything we needed. One thing to note, while the package we had came with two adventure trips included, we still had to pay park fees like you would in a national park in the states. So bring extra money for that. She set up our trip to ATM so that it was just the two of us and our guide (which is the ONLY way to go!). She also made sure our wedding day went off without a hitch. After we returned from our “I Do’s” at Xunantunich, she had a private, romantic dinner by the pool set up for us. When we decided we weren’t up for another full-day adventure, she suggested horseback riding, and she was right on the mark. It’s not your typical ride in a line down a driveway-size path. It was cutting through dense jungle, steering your horse up and down hills and around trees, and then galloping (racing!) past a mahogany farm. I highly recommend it!

All in all, our stay at Chaa Creek was something we will never forget, and we are absolutely looking forward to returning to the place where we kicked off our life together for an anniversary (hopefully sooner than later!)
