Cave Tubing is one of Belize’s popular adventure tours

Cave tubing has been rated as one of the best adventure tours to do in Belize!

The tour will take you through the Maya underworld where you will observe a labyrinth of sacred and mysterious caves. Often described as entries into the watery Maya underworld, caves were used by the Maya for religious purposes and they strongly believed that life and death occur at the liminal zones ( see anthropological definition of liminal below) between this world and the other world.

In a nutshell, the Maya associated caves with life and death and described it as follows: when something emerges from the underworld, that something lives, and when something descends into the underworld, that something dies. They also believed that the sun and moon were born out of the underworld.

Cave tubing will definitely awaken your senses!
In anthropology, liminality (from the Latin word l men, meaning “a threshold”) is the quality of ambiguity or disorientation that occurs in the middle stage of rituals, when participants no longer hold their pre-ritual status but have not yet begun the transition to the status they will hold when the ritual is complete. During a ritual’s liminal stage, participants “stand at the threshold” between their previous way of structuring their identity, time, or community, and a new way, which the ritual establishes.
