The growth of Belize’s Global Reputation – A true life Cinderella Story
Belize Boats, Big Bodacious Seagoing Beauty
Why are we excited about the success and social cache that Belize Motoryachts holds in nautical circles?
After all, Belize Motor yachts are not made in Belize; an Australian Company in Taiwan produces them.
So you’d be forgiven for asking why they appear on a blog originating in the rainforest of Belize.
We find the news interesting because when The Lodge at Chaa Creek started out as Chaa Creek Cottages, with one little thatched roof cottage and a menu consisting of rice and bean with stew chicken and a bar boasting a selection of rums – Caribbean or One Barrel, and Belkin Beer, it seemed like hardly anyone knew that Belize existed.
When we went overseas and people asked where we were coming from, it usually went something like,
“Where are you from?”
Followed by a lengthy description being near the Yucatan Peninsula, Guatemala and Honduras, having the largest barrier reef in the western hemisphere and having formerly been known as British Honduras
So forgive us for taking pride in the fact that fast forward a few decades, Belize now has an attractive association.
So much so that one of the world’s most prestigious motoryachts has decided to name their range of luxury rides after Belize.
We quote from BYM Product and Industry News, who bill themselves as “The world’s most up-to-date Product, Boat, Marina, Corporate, Legislative & Regulatory News”
“The Australian owned-and-designed luxury marque, Belize Motor yachts, is celebrating the launch of hull number 10, which will premiere at the Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show from February 13 to 17. This striking new Daybridge model follows hot on the heels of the Belize 54 Sedan, which impressed American boating enthusiasts at her 2013 US premiere at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.”
Now, this is a very high quality yacht attracting the world’s most discriminating buyers at one of the industry’s premier events.
And the name the company uses for their most prestigious lines? Belize.
We don’t think this came about by accident. Belize has entered global consciousness not only through sheer natural beauty and a pristine environment, but also by dint of hard work in building up an ecotourism industry that not only attracted people, but also satisfied them when they came here.
In short, people have heard about this little melting pot by the sea, came here, liked what they saw, told people and created a buzz. So much so that builders of luxury motor yachts from the other side of the world want to be associated with it.
When you think about it, that’s quite an accomplishment for a little developing country.
Why not come here and see for yourself what makes Belize so special that the producers of some of the world’s most high-end luxury yachts want to use the name?
And don’t worry, we’re still very much a no shoes, no shirt no worries kind of place…
