Chaa Creek makes Condé Nast Gold List for 2010

Our Belizean Rainforest eco lodge is located in the heart of the Maya civilisation.

The Lodge at Chaa Creek is ending the year on a high note and with another award after recently being acknowledged as one of the world’s finest destinations, according to the prestigious Condé Nast Traveller Gold List for 2010.

The list compiles “the best places to stay in the world” as chosen by Condé Nast readers from the magazine’s annual Readers’ Choice Survey. Inclusion in the Gold list is determined by data collected from the survey, a minimum number of responses and an assessment of comments.

Chaa Creek, the only Belizean resort to make the list, received an overall score of 87.6 out of one hundred compiled from categories such as rooms, service, food, location, design and activities.

“When you consider the sophistication of Condé Nast’s international readership and the calibre of hotels and resorts from around the world vying for inclusion in this list, we are very pleased, and very grateful to our guests who took the time to enter us in the survey,”  Chaa Creek owner and general manager Lucy Fleming said yesterday.

“Our staff members are all very proud, and rightly so, that we received a 92.6 rating for service,” she added.

Chaa Creek employs some 135 staff members on the 365 acre private nature reserve which includes the rainforest resort and 23 rooms, a Macal River Camp, restaurant, bar, Natural History Centre, Spa, stables, canoes and equipment for a wide range of adventure based activities.

The resort also received an 88.5 rating for activities.

This is the third year running that The Lodge at Chaa Creek has been featured in the Gold List, having received similar gongs in 2008 and 2009.

“I think what this really shows is how much we all love what we do, and that it’s reflected in our service, tours and activities ” Mrs Fleming said.
