With a bit of comparison shopping, a summer holiday in an exotic Caribbean rainforest setting may cost less than taking a vacation at home, according to a vacation planning expert at Belize’s The Lodge at Chaa Creek. Bryony Fleming Bradley, who is also Chaa Creek’s assistant GM, said that the popular eco resort’s all-inclusive Belize vacation packages can result in big savings by removing any hidden costs from a holiday. “What always blows out vacation budgets is the many surprises and hidden costs people seem to encounter when travelling, whether overseas or in their own country,” she said. “As much as you plan, things always seem to arise that end up costing more than expected.”

As if Maya culture, history and tradition are not reason enough to inspire 300 words of prose regarding our genuine enthusiasm for Chaa Creeks planned activities including interactive workshops, seminars, lessons on Maya farming, arts & crafts, Maya medicine and holistic healing, Ive managed to put off writing this for the better part of three weeks because I was looking for that extra spark to inspire me.

We stayed at Chaa Creek for a few days the third week of February with our two kids- 9 & 13. This place was wonderful- we had a standard cottage as the Treetop suites did not have 4 beds. Ours was number 14 with a beautiful outdoor shower- the “room” was huge and perfectly fine for us. I really liked the no locks policy (with a safe in the room)- we felt completely secure at all times.
