My family is so excited about a new year’s resolution we just made that we want to share it around. At the dinner table the other day we were talking about the new year and what it had in store for us, and the discussion got around to New Year’s resolutions. As usual with my teen son and daughter, they began challenging each other to come up with the coolest, most do-able resolution for 2012, and without noticing, we parents were soon drawn into the contest.

One interesting project we’ve recently heard about is Sea Base 1, a permanent underwater research station and habitat planned to be located in the Caribbean Sea just off Ambergris Caye. Said to be the first-of-its- kind underwater facility combining coral reef research, education and eco-tourism, Sea Base 1 would house up to 25 aquanauts to live and work over extended periods of time in a submerged environment. Sea Base 1 is a non-profit company established by the late Dr Richard Cooper, a former marine biology professor, veteran underwater researcher and explorer who stressed that such research is imperative because coral reefs are “considered to be the ocean equivalent of a canary in the coal mine.”

I had never heard of this tiny country before, which is located in the heart of Central America. Due to a family emergency, my friend was unable to go on her journey as originally scheduled; however, she was smart enough to purchase travel insurance.

Belize has everything for a perfect vacation. It is a warm place where we can find Nature reserves and a magnificent barrier reef. As I am fond of outdoor activities I find the countryside more attractive than the city and I am eager to go in this amazing country with beautiful surroundings. I also plan to relax in the spa during this stay and eat healthy organic food. I would also like my family to join me if I win to make them aware of what is meant by paradise.

I live in Chicago, IL. Everything in nature seems to depend on each other for its survival. All through primary school we were taught about food chains, and how animals and plants depend on each other. If we to destroy or …
