What do Australia and Belize and have in common? More than you might think, actually, and not the least of which is a pressing need to protect their stunning great barrier reefs; the world’s largest and second largest, respectively.

CNN International has named the Great Blue Hole of Belize a top diving site in the world. According to the Belize Tourism Board, the famous Blue Hole is being recognized as the seventh best spot among fifty locations in a story written by Jade Bremmer.

I’m going to Belize in 2 weeks! I have been invited by the Belize Tourist Board on a “FAM” trip. This is travel industry lingo for “familiarization”. I, along with a bunch of other travel industry professionals, are going on a somewhat insane itinerary: we will visit 27 hotels in 5 days! I wouldn’t call that fun, but many of these are places I have heard of for years but never gotten to, and I am looking forward to seeing them. We will be staying in San Ignacio, Mountain Pine Ridge, Placencia, Hopkins, and San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. I’ll be posting more about the trip when I get there.

If our actions contribute to destruction of the environment then someone else has to clean up the mess while the flora and fauna become innocent victims of our carelessness. If everyone enjoyed their environment by keeping in mind that we are accountable for our actions, pollution would diminish..

I am definitely interested in the Mayan culture of Belize, but my true interest lies in the natural environments it has to offer. My bookshelves are filled with animal books, including both local and foreign (to me). Many of these animals I have only seen in books and on television.

I visited the Chaa Creek website and am so very impressed at the accolades,especially the Best Eco Resort award. I think i would also relax in the spa . In fact, if we won this, i would have to extend our trip just to make sure we experience all that Belize and Chaa Creek have to offer.

Belize is clearly a diving mecca, but there is so much above sea level to explore. With 2012 right around the corner, I’m really hoping to explore the Mayan temple sites and the Sacred Caves. I would love to do some bird watching. I lost my mom to cancer just two years ago, and she seems to follow me and appear in that form now. Of course, I also look forward to the diving and snorkeling possibilities as well.

I’d like to vacation in Belize at The Lodge at Chaa Creek because I have been to Belize for one day in the past and would like to explore it’s beauty further, Spending 4 night in a cottage, exploring it’s zoo, museums trails and farms would be even better than the hammock and snorkeling I’ve done there before. I bird watch from my sunroom in the Midwestern United States but could only imagine the birds in this rainforest. The temples, caves nature reserves are calling my stress filled name.

I want to visit Belize with my husband of 47 years.  We love the outdoors and going on nature walks, so this would be the perfect vacation for us.  Staying at the friendly cottage atmosphere of the Lodge at Chaa Creek where we can relax and visit with other people interested in nature and in preserving our earth’s wilderness for future generations would be so fun and educational at the same time.

I want to go to Belize and do everything and see everything and know just how amazing everything is. I think I would like to go with my good friend Lauren, and we would not waste an opportunity like this. We would go snorkeling and jet skiing, and even visit the zoo and if anybody in this world deserves to do these things, I think Lauren and I would make good candidates. I think that Lauren is a good person and that she deserves something like this. You see, being college students we both live our daily routine lives working hard to get somewhere we’re not sure of yet. But for now, Belize would be a great temporary destination.
