Since I accidentally stumbled upon your web-site recently, I have become fascinated and enamored with both the country of Belize and your inspirational eco-resort Chaa Creek. I’ am not a true believer in chance happenings, so naturally I think Belize and I are destined to meet, and this sweepstakes has given me a unique opportunity to achieve that desirable fate. Newly engaged, my fiancé and I have been looking for that perfect honeymoon destination, and perfect is exactly how Chaa Creek looks and sounds to us.

Belize is a nature lover’s paradise. Beautiful scenery, rainforests and beaches. Amazing native birds and animals. The climate of Belize is near perfect. Belize is home to wildlife reserves and sanctuaries, rivers, herbal trails, massive Mayan ruins and ancient pyramids that are still among the tallest structures in the country today, and a massive system of subterranean caves. With approximately 40 per cent of land classified as protected, the forests support a vast range of wildlife including five large cat species – margay, jaguarundi, ocelot, puma and jaguar. Bird life is also abundant with over 500 species recorded.

When I was researching hotels in Belize I came across Chaa Creek. What an amazing place to stay! Chaa Creek has everything and more I could hope to experience in Belize, from wonderful food to a couple that developed the land and has lived there for thirty years. I am sure the Fleming’s can provide some great insight to us as we too discover and learn to love Belize.

Why Belize? Peter and I joked about going to Belize a couple times. We would send each other pictures of Belize back and forth, commenting on how the place seemed so unreal. There were times when Peter and I would sneak out of real life to go on road trips. They were always the best; we always have the best time. I would love to take Peter to Belize because if there is anyone who deserves this trip, it is him.

The opportunity to share in the beauty that exists in Belize while learning how to interact with the natural beauty of the resort would be an educational opportunity of a lifetime. I would like to win this vacation package so that I can expand the understanding that both my daughter and I share so that we may take better steps to help protect the ecology of our own county AND other countries. Growing up in the near-wilderness of rural Michigan, I was one with the trees and the birds and the animals. It was a time of my life that is very dear to me, especially now that I live near and work in the big ol’ city of Chicago. The hustle and bustle of business people on their lunch break, the clack-clack-clacking of the Red Line overhead, and the screaming hobos make me wish I could escape to pastoral scenes like those of my childhood.
