Southwest Airlines expects to begin flights to Belize City next year as it expands international service. The airline said Thursday that it will fly to Belize from Houston beginning next October…Southwest needs federal government approval for the flights.

United Airlines will offer new Chicago-to-Belize flights beginning 20 December 2014, they will be adding weekly Saturday flights from Chicago to Belize City, bolstering its current service to Belize from Houston and Newark.

When we arrived at Belize’s international airport where we were met by Chaa Creek’s driver/guide – the first of the many friendly staff we soon became acquainted with. The drive from the airport went quickly and gave us our first taste of what a beautiful little country Belize is, but it was nothing compared to what awaited us at Chaa Creek.

Beat the freeze and head to Belize this winter. For a little off-the-beaten track place, Belize is incredibly easy to get to. Filled with ancient Maya temples and ancient cities, and on the other the Caribbean Sea and all these little islands and coastal villages and resorts, all protected by a huge barrier reef. The people are really friendly and, to top it off, everyone speaks English!
