Today’s Belize photo of the day is the White-fronted Parrot and its scientific name is Amazona albifrons. This specie is also known as the White-fronted Amazon and nicknamed the Spectacled Amazon Parrot. I want to be an ECO kid because I think nature is awesome. In my back yard I have a little compost pot were I put organic trash. In my front yard I have an organic garden. It‘s organic because I do not use any chemicals. My Mom and I planted some cucumbers and spinach. A few weeks later, we noticed the cucumbers were covered in aphids. After a couple of days the cucumbers were dead.
My mom has instilled a lot of value in myself and my little sisters to appreciate what we have around us. Now I don’t just look at a bird as a bird but I wonder what do they eat? Where do they sleep? What is there life like? It makes me feel closer to nature in a sense. With everything my mom has taught me it has helped me to go out and search on my own to find out the answers to my questions. She shows me which books I can use to build my knowledge.
But what attracts me the most is the traditional healing and the three R’s, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Reduce the pollution, Reuse glass bottles and Recycle plastic is all very important because they are a basic rule that makes our world a better place to live in. I live at a ranch so traditional healing sounds good because almost every day someone gets a bruise or scrape or a hurt. And before I forget my school makes us do posters for Earth Day.
