Imagine waking up under sunny skies with spacious open space surrounded by greeneries or palm trees, roar of the ocean waves and a short walk to freshly brewed coffee with toasted bread and freshly squeezed orange juice. That could be your paradise for short term or long term.

Nature is Awesome

I want to be an ECO kid because I think nature is awesome. In my back yard I have a little compost pot were I put organic trash. In my front yard I have an organic garden. It‘s organic because I do not use any chemicals. My Mom and I planted some cucumbers and spinach. A few weeks later, we noticed the cucumbers were covered in aphids. After a couple of days the cucumbers were dead.

Mother Nature and Belize

My mom has instilled a lot of value in myself and my little sisters to appreciate what we have around us. Now I don’t just look at a bird as a bird but I wonder what do they eat? Where do they sleep? What is there life like? It makes me feel closer to nature in a sense. With everything my mom has taught me it has helped me to go out and search on my own to find out the answers to my questions. She shows me which books I can use to build my knowledge.

Why should conservation be important to kids?

But what attracts me the most is the traditional healing and the three R’s, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Reduce the pollution, Reuse glass bottles and Recycle plastic is all very important because they are a basic rule that makes our world a better place to live in. I live at a ranch so traditional healing sounds good because almost every day someone gets a bruise or scrape or a hurt. And before I forget my school makes us do posters for Earth Day.

My latest obsession is Belize.

OK I have a confession: as a form of relaxation I plan vacations I want to take but usually never take. I plan them down to every last detail. My latest obsession is Belize. The trip I planned included a stay at Chaa Creek and a trip to the reef’s of Belize. I researched every Eco lodge in Belize (and many in Costa Rica) and Chaa Creek came up at the very top. Not many seem to have the mix of amenities with on-sight activities that Chaa Creek has. I am into bird watching and the birding seems great. My husband is drawn to the kayaking. We both are drawn to the Mayan ruin tours.

Belize Honeymoon Vacation Sweepstakes Essay#20

When it came time to select a location for our wedding, my fiancé and I had no hesitation about Belize. The country holds a special place for both of us. Her father owns a non-profit that does work exclusively with Belize, and I spent some time living and teaching there before our engagement. We each have visited the country several times and have fallen in love with it. It was the perfect spot to jumpstart our life together.
That was …

Depending on the field guide or checklist used by those reporting bird records the names applied to species may vary. There have been some recent taxonomic changes and …

Nature Quest Sweepstakes – Essay #2

My first visit to the Lodge at Chaa Creek was in the summer or 2009.  Traveling on a tight budget, my friend and I stayed in a cabin at the Macal River Camp, a cheaper, “no frills” alternative to the suites and cottages.  We could not have been more pleased with the campsite, surrounded by rainforest and located just above the river.  It was such a pleasure to wake up each morning to the sounds of the various creatures in …
