I am very glad when I hear the word “Eco” or “Recycle” because those are words of two wonderful ideas. I have been recycling for quite a while with bottles, containers, and plastic items and dropping them off at the Radisson Recycling Center in Belize City . Now in my house they call me the ” Recycling Queen”.

My name is Aadil Nu ‘Man I am 8 years old. I am a standard II student at Grace Primary School. Let me tell you how I am ECO FRIENDLY.

Everyday I try to recycle, reuse, and reduce. Early in the morning I wake up, eat my breakfast. Any left over food scraps like orange peels, vegetables, tea bags egg shells and rice I put it in a container. I have almost always wanted to grow something. It did not matter what when I was younger I would plant a lot of seeds that I found. I also would like going around and asking my mom if she could spare a carrot top or a potato’s eye or a sweet peppers seed. I would plant everything that I got and I would check them every morning, I would water the small plants but most all of my attempts failed. I still want to grow plants. Another thing is trees I mean if you look at a tree closely there are so many different ants and bugs on it and almost every single one has a home in that same tree.

As a kid I would want to help save our environment but I can’t do it alone. It takes more than one person but it starts with me. I will be eco friendly to help save the planet and so I could live in a greener and safer world. Eco friendly is not doing anything to hurt yourself or the world you live in. A family that goes green together stays together.

I enjoy learning about animals and plants. By learning about nature, I will be able to encourage my friends to do the same and appreciate nature for what it is. By doing that, they will recycle, and see nature how I see it as a wonderful place where there are things still to be discovered. They will want to protect it too. This is why I want to be an eco kid.

My name is Adreano Finnetty. I am currently a Standard 6 student attending Holy Redeemer Primary School in Belize City. Since I was born, I realized how fascinated I am with nature and the Earth itself. I have taken time and effort to learn as much as possible about nature: from the simplest of organisms, like flowers with the power of pollination; and, bugs which lay millions of eggs every single day; to animals of brute strength like lions and sharks.

Why should conservation be important to kids?

But what attracts me the most is the traditional healing and the three R’s, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Reduce the pollution, Reuse glass bottles and Recycle plastic is all very important because they are a basic rule that makes our world a better place to live in. I live at a ranch so traditional healing sounds good because almost every day someone gets a bruise or scrape or a hurt. And before I forget my school makes us do posters for Earth Day.

Chaa Creek Summer Camp To Teach Children To Love Nature

We only have one planet and we need to and we need to conserve our resources. Imagine the destruction one little disruption like pollution, deforestation, soil erosion, etc may cause. Pollution is a serious problem. The contamination of the environment may lead to diseases and creates an inhabitable place. It is very important that we have a clean and safe place to live in. If we don’t conserve our ecosystem endangered species of plants and animals may die out. This affects the food webs and the normal conditions of the habitats.

The Ancient Mayas

Today’s theme for the ECO KIDS Camp was The Ancient Mayas.
After the kids ate their delicious breakfast which consisted of refried beans, scrambled eggs, fresh fruits and fry jacks, they prepared to hike the trail that leads to the archaeological site of Tunchilen which is located within Chaa Creek’s 365 private Nature Reserve.
This Maya site is just a fifteen minute hike from the Macal River Camp but when the kids saw Mick Fleming in his Kawaski ‘Mule’ they begged …

Eco Kids Summer Camp Journal

It was an exciting and eventful first day at the Chaa Creek Eco-kids Camp. The first camp wake-up call rang unnoticed as most children were up and at them by the crack of dawn. Anticipation was thick as fog as shoes were located and teeth were scrubbed. It was their first day in the jungle. The Eco-kids were not about to let something as trivial as breakfast slow their pace! To the mess haul, no delay! For most of …
