Eco Kids Summer Camp »

[10 Jun 2012 | No Comment | ]

I want to be an eco-kid because I like this planet, but lately I have started to not like if so much. The earth is supposed to be beautiful, but with all the garbage on our streets, in the drains, and on the sidewalks, it is a little – no, not a little, a lot less beautiful. When we leave garbage everywhere, people will not want to visit our city. That will bring down our tourism and hurt our economy.

Everyday you go outside and when you look around your community you see many more things that you can do to help your environment look as clean as you. I look around my environment and say to myself ‘Had I’ve always been living in this area and not been paying much attention to it’.

Save the Environment – Says Shaneli Pop

Hi, my name is Shaneli Pop, I am 10 years old and I live in beautiful Cayo District. I really want to be an eco kid because I want to discover the life between the plants and animals. I want to help protect the endangered animals. I also want to help the plants grow big and beautiful. I have seen with my naked eyes how men cut down trees and I felt bad because I couldn’t do any thing.

One Person Can Make A Difference, and Everyone Should Try

We do not want to harm the planet any further so let us re-use, reduce and recycle. We must act now before it is too late, and realize that one small change can make a big difference. Presently, technology has replaced books and made life easier for mankind. Children are getting obese because of eating unhealthy food and spending countless hours in front of the television. The people of today’s society are very naive, they prefer spending most of their salary buying vehicles than walking. It is time to educate ourselves. Let us practice healthy living and make smart choices about the resources we exploit.

Keeping Mother Earth alive!

I want to be an ECOKID because I like taking care of the environment. I also like planting trees and taking care of the animals. I think everyone has the ability to take care of our environment. Best of all I like planting because it is very fun to plant. When you plant it is called REFORESTATION and when you cut down trees it is called DEFORESTATION. I learned it at school because I like to learn more and more of science because this subject is just very interesting.

How can children benefit from an ecotourism experience?

A couple years ago my father was diagnosed with Lupus, I saw how he was living by taking so much medication daily and from a strict diet and that has inspired me to someday be a herbalist and our forests are very important for me to achieve this. In order to do this, one must go into the forest and collect samples of different vegetation that are out there and bring them back to the lab for future studies. Someday I plan to play a big part in finding the cure for diseases that are affecting our society like HIV, cancer, lupus and other diseases that don’t yet have a cure.

The Perfect Balance

This vacation would be a FUN adventure for my family that I could feel good about. Eco-tourism is a wonderful tool in the protection of natural resources for areas in need of the business. It provides a reason to keep diverse, natural habitats and provides, perhaps, a sense of pride for the local community.
