After two days of hiking, climbing and swimming, I was ready for a bit of a change of pace, so we headed to the eco jungle resort, Chaa Creek. At this 365 acre resort, you’ll have everything at your fingertips to customize your own jungle adventure. I had met someone from Chaa Creek a few years ago at a travel trade show and had been staring at their promotional disc for years, waiting for the day I’d get to Belize so I could stay there. After checking in to our private thatched cottage, we met with the concierge to organize the activities for the following day. Many are included in your stay, but a few such as horseback riding and canoeing carry a small surcharge.

Last year in October we hosted Roni Weiss, a respected travel blogger from New York. During his stay at Chaa Creek, he toured our Butterfly Farm, Natural History Museum, Medicine Trail and also went horseback riding within our private 365 acre nature reserve.

The Lodge at Chaa Creek in the Cayo District of Belize has some pretty awesome horse stables. We went riding with them on a guided trail ride tour with an awesome guide who showed us everything from local wildlife to trees and fruit. We rode to an unexcavated Maya site on top of a hill overlooking the beautiful rainforest sourrounding Chaa Creek.

I love this special one of a kind place and plan to visit as soon as my schedule permits. This is in my mind the finest Eco resort on the planet and I am a very experienced traveler having been to Costa Rica many times.

I also think the ancient (and living) Mayan culture of Belize gives
travelers a much deeper experience to connect with in comparison to
some other potential vacation destinations where there is less
mystery & just less left physically intact (thinking of the temples)
to explore & consider.

It has always been one of my most heartfelt dreams to visit the lush green of the rain forest. I go to sleep
listening to a tape of the sounds of the birds and animals of the forest, the ack,ack, of the parrots and the mournful howling of the monkeys.
