The lobster feasting will take place in San Pedro starting June 15 – 24. The seventh annual San Pedro Lobster Festival is the first of three major events taking place during the summer. The San Pedro Lobster Festival will be a ten-day, blissful, lobster-themed festival of activities, which is being sponsored/hosted by different restaurants and hotels.

With so many wonderful options it was hard to decide where to call home. On the one hand, you have the gorgeous turquoise waters, white-sand beaches, and swaying palm trees of the islands, or cayes as they’re called in Belize.

On the other hand, you have the rainforest, rivers and ruins of the Cayo area in the west. If you like the water but don’t want to live on an island, you’ve got coastal towns like Corozal, Placencia or Hopkins, or you can live in the middle of nowhere in Orange Walk, or off the Hummingbird Highway…

Belize lies at the crossroads between the Caribbean and Latin America. You can physically see the changes in people, architecture and landscape as you drive from the port of Belize City into the mountains beyond San Ignacio and the Guatemala border. Belize has long been known as the dive capital of the Americas, far fewer visitors have recognised the quality and uniqueness of its spa and wellness facilities.

After Holy Week in April, Belize has a succession of festivals. There is the Cashew Festival and the recent Cacao Festival in the month of May. Both festivals were about food and cooking. The next big celebration is the Lobsterfest in June.

Beginning in March and running through April, May, June and sometimes further into the summer, the annual migration of these gentle giants to Belize is a rare, truly magnificent sight. In fact, Belize shares the distinction of hosting whale shark migration feasts with only a handful of other places in the world, including Madagascar, South Africa, Australia, Mozambique, Indonesia and the Yucatan.
