Going on vacation doesn’t mean that your healthy lifestyle goes on hiatus. While exotic beaches may conjure up visions of piña coladas and endless napping for some people, it’s easy to stay healthy when you choose the right vacation destination – and visiting Belize is a super smart destination for people in search of a healthy living paradise.
A truly paradise nation, Belize is seriously worth consideration if you’re after a bit of adventure tempered with a laid back lifestyle, and if you like to combine beachcombing with mountain climbing! In other words, there really is something for everyone in Belize and because the US dollar is pegged to the Belizean dollar, Americans will not find it expensive and British and European visitors will find it positively cheap!
Belize enjoys a subtropical climate with bright sunshine all year round. We may experience intermittent showers, which help to keep our country green and lush. The days are warm with an average annual temperature of 80 degrees. The mountain areas experience cooler weather than the islands and coastal plains. In the Cayo district our warmest months are April and May and our coolest months are January and February.
Ethnic groups include Mestizo, Maya, Creole, Garinagu and European. English is the official language. Spanish, Mayan, Garifuna and Creole are also spoken widely.
Belize is the Best! I’ve been to my share of Caribbean destinations: the Windward Islands of St. Lucia, St. Vincent and Grenada; the Leeward Islands of Anguilla, St. Barth’s, St. Martin & Antigua; as well as the Cayman Islands. I’d have to say Belize is my favorite Caribbean destination, edging out my former favorite, Grenada. Both Grenada and Belize have some of the same high scores on my Caribbeo Meter: lots of varied terrain, nice beaches, interesting culture, friendly people and lack of high-rise hotels and mass tourism. Both countries let you experience everything from the beach to rainforests to traditional cutlures.
