Ambergris Caye hovers in a vacation sweet spot: just enough amenities to make it exciting, but not so overdeveloped that you’re tripping over flip-flopped tourists. A mangrove swamp is the eye of this white beach island, the largest in Belize, and golf carts are the main form of transportation along the sandy roads.

Belize is once again at the top of another international tourist list, this time topping the list of perfect destinations for diving and snorkeling. ‘The National,’ an English newspaper based in the United Arab Emirates, nominated Belize as the second best snorkeling location in the world.

The Lodge at Chaa Creek, Belize’s foremost eco resort and, with over 135 staff members, one of the country’s largest private employers, honoured two of its team members for 20 service this week.

If there’s any downside at all to a Belize vacation it’s trying to cram so much into the always too short amount of time you have there. Plan as much as you like; new things always present themselves when you arrive in the Jewel, as Belizeans refer to their country.

Over the years Chaa Creek has received numerous awards and accolades, and this new Trip Advisor recognition is particularly satisfying because it comes straight from international travellers themselves.

The Lodge at Chaa Creek has recently been selected as one of the top ten resorts for the entire Central and South American region, according to this month’s Travel+Leisure Magazine, which features their annual “Best resorts in the World” awards list for 2011.
And the good news for travellers to Belize is that Chaa Creek’s partner in an all-inclusive Rainforest to Reef package, Victoria House on Ambergris Caye, was also named as one of the top ten by the magazine and its website.

This place was amazing from top to bottom! Management and staff are certainly doing a great job. Property was properly manicured, food was excellent, bar was cozy and room was fantastic. This was my second time there and i would definetley go back!

Truly a Gem:
Chaa Creek was the most amazing place ever. It was in the middle of the jungle but still had all the modern amenities. So many activities on site to do. We mountain biked to the ruins. Definitely needed a few more days to really enjoy what Chaa has to offer!
