There can be no greater need or deed than saving the earth as an Eco-Kid

The following is a submission of one of our applicants to this year’s Chaa Creek Eco Kids Summer Camp.

Officially known as the Children’s Summer Camp Scholarship Program, the annual event gives 24 young Belizeans between the ages of 8 and 13 a chance to learn about their natural world through a mix of adventure, social interaction, fun and hands-on education aimed at instilling a sense of wonder and responsibility for the environment.

The Eco Kids are selected after submitting a 300 word written essay which is reviewed and shortlisted by the Chaa Creek scholarship committee with the winners going on to attend the summer camp.

Chaa Creek will be providing all lodging, three healthy meals and snacks each day, structured educational activities, arts and craft materials, tee shirts, 24-hour camp counselor supervision, and guided tours conducted by licensed naturalist guides.

Good luck potential Eco Kids!

Eco Kids Summer Camp 2013

Eco- kids, the same in name, different in ways, but all with the same important mission, trying to help make our world a better, cleaner and healthier place for us all. We Eco-kid work together for what we want to accomplish .Ecosystems types are not only determined by their abiotic factors. Of these soil is the most important. Along the entire cost and bordering many cays lie extensive mangrove forests. We also cannot forget the submerged habitat within the Barrier Reef, lagoon includes sea grass beds.

Extinction is the complete loss of one or more species from the face of the earth. Today the principal causes of species extinction are the increase of human population grows. It invades and destroys ecosystems. Life is so intricately. Interdependent that in many cases the extinction of many more species that were dependent on them, for food, pollination or shelter.

Hotels and resorts use large amounts of water, chemicals supplies and disposable items  they also generate lots of waste such as wastewater and solid waste because of this, small efficiency gains can lead to large cost saving and environment performance improvements .

To live in a country where the people are as diverse and colorful as the unique environment they habits is truly inspirational the natural world that sustains the dramatic flora  and fauna that entertain us, and the colleagues who toil to advance and polish our efforts all supply the dynamic bedrock  the we eco-kids had  matured upon. We need to use the three R reduce, reuse and recycle. We understand that in order to survive and prosper we must work harmoniously with the natural environment and the indigenous people of the local communities. The environment isn’t an endless resource that you continually exploit without any sense of responsibly or stewardship. Look after the environment, and it will look after you.
