Chaa Creek Specials Enhance Belizean Independence Month

The Lodge at Chaa Creek is celebrating summer’s end and the beginning of Belize’s holiday season with accommodation and vacation package specials that marketing director Larry Waight said will ensure that this year’s Belizean Independence celebrations are “the best yet.”

“September is always the biggest month on the Belize social calendar, and this year we’re extending our new end-of-summer-specials to what is already a heady mix of celebration, adventure, and extreme relaxation,” Mr Waight said.

“It’s no exaggeration to say this is going to be the most ambitious, best September we’ve held yet. And that’s saying a lot,” he added.

Belize comes alive during the month of September as the nation celebrates its relatively recent independence from Great Britain on September 21, 1981. Independence Day follows St George’s Caye Day on September 10th, the national commemoration of a 1798 battle that marked the turning point of the early Spanish/British Honduras conflict and what is considered to be the defining moment in Belizean statehood.

Mr Waight said that by extending their end of summer specials into the month, Chaa Creek plans to host the liveliest, most complete September holiday vacations since independence.

“Our end of summer ‘add-ons’ have proven to be such a hit that we decided to extend them to coincide with Belize’s September celebrations, which makes the month even more chock-a-block with activities than usual,” Mr Waight explained. We want our guests to experience the raving celebration carried out each year by our proud people of Belize.

Chaa Creek’s summer add-ons include a free “Creatures of the Night” guided evening nature tour added to the all-inclusive “Inland Expedition” packages and any stay over three nights. The eco-resort also added a complimentary two mile tube float down the Macal River from the Belize Botanic Gardens to Chaa Creek as part of the “Belize Family Adventure Package”, and a guided rainforest horseback ride with picnic as part of the “All-inclusive Belize Honeymoon Adventure Package”.

“Chaa Creek’s all-inclusive Belize holiday packages provide everything from the moment guests arrive at Belize’s International airport until they depart, including all transfers, beautiful thatch roof cottage accommodation, meals, activities and complete access to Chaa Creek’s 365 acre private rainforest reserve, which contains miles of trails for horseback or mountain bike riding. There’s also canoeing, an infinity pool, Natural History Centre, Butterfly farm, Hilltop Spa, fine dining restaurant and Jungle Lounge,” Mr Waight explained.

“We’ve built an excellent reputation worldwide for combining affordable casual luxury with green, sustainable practices, and along with that comes the peace of mind in knowing that there are no hidden costs or surprises whatsoever. Even staff gratuities are taken care of, so except for alcoholic beverages there really is nothing else to pay for,” Mr Waight said. “And the exuberance you feel throughout Belize during the September celebrations truly is priceless,” he added.

The theme for Belize’s 2013 September Celebrations is “Belize in You, Belize in Me, Land of the Free.”  The celebrations will be bolstered by a generous donation by the Government of the Republic of China, recently presented to Belize by Taiwanese ambassador David Wu.

Mr Waight also pointed out that Chaa Creek first opened its doors as Belize’s first eco-resort in September 1981, so the month holds special significance for the management and staff.

“The momentum is already building for the big nationwide party on the 21st of September, as well as our own birthday party, and while peace and quiet always reigns at Chaa Creek, there is something special in the air. And, of course, our guests have many ways to get out and enjoy the celebrations, such as taking a canoe trip into San Ignacio town or a short flight to Ambergris Caye.

“All things considered, it promises to be a very, very special September this year,” he said.

The Lodge at Chaa Creek is an award winning eco resort set within a 365 acre private nature reserve in Belize.
