The New Belize Rainforest Retreat at Chaa Creek Is Now Open
You Asked, We Listened
Groups who enjoy natural surroundings now have new rainforest lodgings in which to meet, teach, learn, socialize, or just relax in a pristine jungle environment.
Welcome to the Belize Rainforest Retreat at Chaa Creek.
For nearly forty years, Chaa Creek’s Macal River Camp has accommodated a variety of groups, organizations, family get-togethers and other gatherings.
And now, for 2020, this nature-based venue has been refreshed as the Belize Rainforest Retreat at Chaa Creek, with a new focus on providing group accommodations and activities that combine rustic simplicity with excellent service and easy access to casually luxurious amenities.
Are you:
- Birders seeking an undisturbed natural forest environment in which to quietly observe your avian friends?
- NGOs wanting to meet someplace truly special?
- Organisations wishing to hold seminars or workshops in a healthy environment that fosters focus, engagement and creativity?
- Corporations planning truly unique team building exercises?
- Families celebrating milestones or life events that call for a venue that’s truly memorable?
We have you covered.
These are just a few examples of groups for whom the former Macal River Camp met and exceeded expectations.
Our recipe for satisfaction is actually quite simple. A group tells us what they’re looking for, and we assign one of our experienced event planners to work with them. In addition to being attentive listeners, our event planners know what areas and activities best suit the form, function and attendees of the event. They know what’s available, what’s possible, how much things cost, and how to get the best value for any budget.
And then it’s just a matter of putting all the elements of a great rainforest experience together.
Some of those elements are:
Accommodations – The Belize Rainforest Retreat features ten Eco Pods – small comfortable cabins raised above the jungle floor, each with private hammock-hung porches and supplied with fresh linens and towels.
The Palapa – is for meeting, dining and socialising. Situated near the well-stocked pantry and kitchen where Doña Francelia and her helpers prepare those legendary meals, the airy thatch-roofed palapa blends in with the jungle ambience. It’s a great place to begin the day with hearty Belizean breakfasts, and enjoy dinners, drinks, barbecues and conversation at day’s end.
Conveniences – Environmentally-friendly bathrooms and showers are scrupulously maintained.
Getting around – a scenic path connects the Belize Rainforest Retreat with the main Lodge at Chaa Creek via a picturesque 15-minute stroll above the Macal River. It’s part of the network of trails crisscrossing our 400-acre private nature reserve that are perfect for nature hikes, guided walks and horseback rides.
For aquatic adventures, including an easy downstream paddle to San Ignacio Town, the Retreat’s canoe landing is just down the hill from the palapa.
Maintenance and Security – Your hosts, the Juarez Family, have been looking after our guests for years with that warm hospitality they are justly famous for.
Tours and Transportation – Chaa Creek’s Belize Inland Expeditions has a fleet of modern vehicles driven by experienced, licensed naturalist guides. Whether small or large, your group can be transported anywhere in Belize in comfort and safety. Combined with our wide selection of Belize tours and expeditions, and a nationwide network of tourism professionals, the Belize Rainforest Retreat makes the perfect home base for exploring this fascinating country.
