If you’re wondering what the travel industry thinks about visiting Belize these days, look no further than the recent examples of two major airlines.
On 9 January 2021, a United Air Boeing 737-800 landed at Belize’s Philip Goldson International Airport (PGIA), commencing United’s inaugural nonstop service from Los Angeles to Belize.
Departing LAX 8.55 am and arriving in Belize at 3.55 pm, the flight then leaves Belize at 4.35 pm, getting into LA 8.00 pm, making Belize a comfortable hop, skip, and jump to and from the USA’s most populous state.
This joins American Airline’s resumption of its Los Angeles to Belize service.
Every Saturday, an American flight leaves LAX 8.00 am for a 2.57 pm arrival at Belize’s PGIA, before turning around for a 4.00 pm departure that gets into LA around 7.31 pm (all times are local).
And those lucky folks staying at The Lodge at Chaa Creek will be greeted by a friendly driver with a freshly sanitised, air-conditioned vehicle waiting to whisk them to the casual luxury of Belize’s iconic jungle lodge.
As we pointed out in an earlier blog post, American Airlines, in partnership with LetsGetChecked, offers pre-flight COVID testing that passengers can complete in the comfort and privacy of their homes, with a medical professional in virtual attendance.
With results back in 48 hours, this makes it a breeze to satisfy Belize’s safe and sane entry requirements that include proof of a negative COVID PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival.
Chaa Creek is a Belize Tourism Board Gold Standard Certified eco-resort, meaning that every aspect of a visitor’s stay – accommodations, amenities, activities, staff (including that aforementioned friendly driver) meet some of the most rigorous health and hygiene standards in the world.
So, in addition to being in the midst of a 400-acre private nature reserve surrounding inland Belize’s widest range of accommodations, amenities and attractions, guests also enjoy peace of mind as they relax, swim, canoe, hike, horseback ride, go birding with pros, and fill their days however they like.
Of course, Chaa Creek is also famous for offering excellent farm-to-table dining (a stroll through the onsite Maya Organic Farm is highly recommended), exotic cocktails and fine wines in the Jungle Lounge, professional spa care, poolside service around the ample infinity pool, and all the creature comforts one could ask for.
Being able to choose from dining in the airy Mariposa Restaurant, visiting the Hilltop Spa, or enjoying those offerings in one’s lodgings adds yet another level of comfort.
Considering all this, along with the ability to visit Belize’s Caribbean Coast, barrier reef and cayes under the same Gold Standard umbrella, is it any wonder that airlines are already gearing up to make visiting Belize easier than ever in 2021?
And we invite you to stay tuned here, and by visiting Chaa Creek’s, the BTB’s and other websites for more information and travel updates – including the growing list of air services to this beautifully healthy little slice of paradise.
We look forward to seeing you, so keep washing your hands, staying safe, and getting ready to make Belize Dreaming (with apologies to California) a reality.
