“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world: indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
– Margaret Mead, Anthropologist
As citizens of this world, we must provide tools to upcoming generations so that a firm foundation of knowledge may be constructed. This has been done ounce by ounce with Chaa Creek’s Pack a Pound outreach program.
Chaa Creek’s Pack-A-Pound Initiative
Our program invites Chaa Creek’s incoming guests to donate much-needed school supplies to the children in Belize. Once the items are received, our team packs them and distributes them to schools and communities surrounding Chaa Creek.
This time, our Pack a Pound initiative led the Chaa Creek team to the neighbouring Village of Calla Creek and the Corozalito community.
Calla Creek Village
Calla Creek is a small village with the population separated by the Mopan River. This posed no problem today for our excited children gathered together at the foot of the rope bridge. As the team arrived, kids were seen following the van with big smiles of their faces and a keen curiosity peeking out of their eyes.
After being organised by their teacher they all lined up to receive their backpacks filled with pens, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, crayons, markers, scissors, water paints, rulers, colouring books, and children’s novels.
Corozalito Community
The team then headed to the community of Corozalito. Corozalito is our closest neighbour, located right on the Chaa Creek entry road. It is a small agricultural community where the team was greeted by some familiar faces and some new ones! Students gathered and enthusiastically anticipated securing their bags filled with new tools to build a firm foundation.
Just look at those smiles!
Thank you!
We want to express our gratitude to our guests who selflessly carried the supplies from their homeland to our home, Belize. Also, to Mrs. Robin and her daughter for accompanying us in this truly unique quest.
