The Global Citizens Club donates School Supplies to Belize School!

Chaa Creek’s Pack-a-Pound Program receives a helping hand from The Global Citizens Club in North Carolina to donate school supplies to Belizean students.

Chad Barringer, a middle school teacher in North Carolina facilitated the donation by bringing the school supplies to Belize during his vacation stay at The Lodge at Chaa Creek with the Pack-a-Pound initiative.

The Global Citizens Club at Heritage Middle School consists of 6th, 7th and 8th graders who range in ages 11 to 15.

“They are amazing students who are driven to make their mark on the world. They are excited to meet and connect with other students who are from different backgrounds and cultures in order to truly embrace global citizenship,” Mr. Barringer said.

The Global Citizen’s Club Objectives are:

  1. Initiating engagement across national language and cultural boundaries.
  2. Recognizing our membership in and responsibility to our global community.
  3. Understanding nuances of global economy and political systems.

In the pictures below, Ms. Talley and Ms. Kithcart prepared for the first official Global Citizens Club meeting that took place on October 29, 2015. The months focus was on the country of Belize. Students enjoyed “journey cakes”–Belizean breakfast biscuits, and also Belizean music. Students also labeled donated school supplies.

“We are continuously accepting school supplies to help other schools worldwide.  Many thanks to club members, parents and the community for helping us make an impact globally,” Ms. Kithcart said.

Sacred Heart Primary School in San Ignacio Town was the selected school for this donation. Excited teachers and students with big smiles welcomed the pack-a-pound team.  Here are a few images:
