Vote for Belize in the 2020 Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards

The Conde Nast Readers’ Choice Awards are now open, and with it the opportunity to vote for destinations – countries, cities, hotels, spas, tours, beaches, and more – that you want the world to know about.

The annual travel survey is invaluable for acknowledging the places and people who made your travel experiences that much richer, and then letting your fellow travellers know about them.

Here’s how Condé Nast describes the awards:

It’s always a good time to celebrate the joys of travel, but right now your favourite places and the communities that serve them need your love more than ever. Think back to all the trips you took over the last year and tell us what struck you most. Chose a category and share what you loved (and what you didn’t). Then invite your friends to do the same. The more you vote and share, the more chances you’ll have to show your support.

With so many of us suddenly unable to move about freely, and waiting to resume our favourite activities – we’re thinking travel – now is a good time to acknowledge and celebrate those places that really stood out.

What struck us about Condé Nast’s introduction to the 2020 awards was this sentence:

“…your favourite places and the communities that serve them need your love more than ever.”

And how.

The Lodge at Chaa Creek has been blessed with a number of awards over the years, and the one that still means so much to us was first place honours in National Geographic’s 2017 World Legacy Awards for “Engaging Communities.”

Our relationship with our local communities has been more than just mutually beneficial. For some forty years we’ve grown together, looked after each other, and been there for each other in good times and bad. Local Belizeans built Chaa Creek, and over the years we’ve endeavoured to give back by helping to build and support our local communities.

With travel effectively shut down, and the tourism so many Belizeans depend upon for a living suddenly ground to a halt, we’re all doing what we can right now, and hoping to soon welcome back the many guests from around the world who have enjoyed Belize and Chaa Creek over the years.

This is one reason why this year’s Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards is so important. Travellers trust travellers, and your views have the potential to make a real difference in how soon and how strongly Belize bounces back.

And that’s why we’re not asking you to vote for Chaa Creek, specifically, as much as we’re asking you to vote for Belize.

Think back to what your time in Belize meant to you, what things and people stood out, and then vote with your heart.

And, if you feel that Chaa Creek and our 160-member family deserves your vote, we’re of course honoured to have earned your love and support.

That’s all there is to it!

Condé Nast also advises that, every time you click on a completed rating between now and April 30, 2020, “you’ll be entered for a dream getaway for two,” so hop online and tell the world what you think about Belize.

And, in the meantime stay safe – we’re looking forward to seeing you again.
