Thanksgiving in Belize: The Perfect Time And Place To Give Thanks
Those of you who are familiar with Chaa Creek know what a big deal Thanksgiving is here.
And those of you who haven’t yet visited us may be surprised at how enthusiastically Thanksgiving is celebrated in Belize.
The Maya, Belize’s original inhabitants, celebrated their events and commemorations with feasts that included turkeys and trimmings. And now, with our large North American expat community, the close proximity and cultural ties shared between Belize, the United States and Canada, turkeys continue to feature in feasts – this time in Thanksgivings celebrated from Ambergris Caye to the rainforests of Cayo.
And here at Chaa Creek, Thanksgiving holds a particularly strong significance.
Much like that first American Thanksgiving shared between the newly arrived Pilgrims and their Native American neighbours, Chaa Creek’s annual feast began when Mick and Lucy invited their neighbours over for a big communal dinner, as a way to thank them for their help, kindness and generosity during that challenging first year of establishing a farm on the banks of the Macal River.
It was a joyful event with British, American and local dishes all combined together for a very special day and night.
Since then, Chaa Creek’s Thanksgiving has become an annual tradition that a growing number of friends and visitors from around the world look forward to.
You can read more about it here.
And now that Belize’s international airport has reopened, and the welcome mat is back out for travelers, a Chaa Creek Thanksgiving has taken on new significance.
In short, we are very grateful to be able to welcome guests back to Belize in time for our annual feast. And we’d love to have you join us – whether just for the Thanksgiving Day feast, or for a three- or five-nights all-inclusive Belize Thanksgiving vacation package.
With everything – and we mean everything – you could ask for in a Belize vacation included for one set price, Chaa Creek’s All-inclusive Thanksgiving has you and your guests securely covered from the time we pick you up at the international airport until we drop you back off.
Eco-luxe accommodations, hearty breakfasts, lunches and dinners, round trip ground transfers that include a visit to the Belize Zoo, casually luxurious amenities and a range of activities that include swimming, canoeing the tranquil Macal River, guided birding walks, tours of the onsite Belize Natural History Museum, Butterfly Farm, Maya Medicinal Plant Trail, are all included – making for a very satisfying and surprisingly affordable Thanksgiving.
Enjoying Thanksgiving in Belize actually makes a lot of sense, when you think about it.
Imagine – instead of having to shop, prepare, host, and then clean up afterwards, you and yours enjoy a short flight to one of travel’s healthiest travel destinations.
You and all other visitors will have received your Belize Health App before leaving home. If you haven’t had a PRC test before leaving (highly recommended), you’ll be tested at the airport. This helps ensure that everyone entering Belize is COVID-free, and that you’ll remain worry-free throughout your stay.
With your health app and negative test result, you’ll breeze through customs and immigration and straight into your Gold Standard Certified Chaa Creek vehicle, which has been carefully sanitized and driven by a specifically trained driver guide.
After a pleasant, scenic drive and contactless check-in, your equally sanitized and beautifully appointed lodgings await.
And then the fun begins.
Surrounded by 400 acres of a private rainforest reserve along the banks of the gently flowing Macal River, with plenty of space between accommodations and the casually luxurious amenities, you can now relax by the pool, on your own veranda, in the airy Jungle Lounge, or strolling through the tropical gardens, pathways and trails.
Chaa Creek is a Belize Tourism Board Gold Standard Certified resort, meaning that the buildings, operations, and staff members have passed a rigorous certification process. A full-time health and safety officer is also on hand to assist guests, answer questions, and make sure everything continues to meet those exacting Gold standards.
With Mother Nature looking after herself, Belize’s stringent regulations and Chaa Creek’s health and safety officer looking after the grounds, guests and staff, you can relax and enjoy.
And with a Chaa Creek Thanksgiving vacation, you will feast. And exercise. And relax. And have time to reconnect with nature, each other, and yourselves.
We noticed a quote in a recent New York Times article that really caught our attention – “Being on vacation with your friends is always a fun thing, but especially during COVID, the greatest gift we can give our kids right now is a shift in environment.”
We agree. And not just kids – grandparents, adults, friends, relatives… everybody can benefit from a shift in environment, attitude, and scenery right now.
If nothing else, recent events have made us a appreciate all the things that we do have – and family and friends are at the top of the list. Add in nature’s beauty, and the delight of savoring delicious meals in lovely, spacious surroundings, and we all start noticing the good things in life again.
If you’d like to join us this year, speak with your favorite travel agent. Or contact Chaa Creek directly, and one of our vacation specialists will be happy to work with you to create a holiday that will truly live up to the Thanksgiving spirit.
