Top Eco Lodge in Belize Wins at National Geographic’s World Legacy Awards 2017
Receiving this award has been a great honor to all of us here at The Lodge at Chaa Creek. Engaging communities has been at the core of our ethos since our doors officially opened in 1981. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, to each member of our team, the owners of one of the most highly rated Eco Lodges in the world, and to all our guests past, present, and future for their invaluable support.
The World Legacy Award for Engaging Communities seeks to recognize organizations who induce direct and tangible economic and social benefits that improve local livelihoods, including training and capacity building, fair wages and benefits, community development, health care and education.
Congratulations to our fellow finalists: Andaman Discoveries in Thailand and Chambok Community Based Eco-Tourism and Mlup Baitong in Cambodia. Each and every one of you does great and groundbreaking work, we are truly all winners. It was an honor to be nominated alongside you in the Engaging Communities category and an honor to be counted a finalist among you all.
