Why I want to vacation in Belize and at The Lodge at Chaa Creek:
My name is Ashley Brockus. My husband and I work very hard in the professions of our dreams; he is a firefighter 5 blocks away from our downtown home in Wichita, KS. And I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, seeing clients several days a week helping them in their relationships, and inner functioning. We moved into a poor neighborhood because we really want to be around people who are different than us so that we could be a blessing and allow them to be a blessing to us.
We have gotten involved with the students at our neighborhood high school, West High, with 89% of the students on the free lunch program, highest pregnancy rate, and highest dropout rate in our city. We are also doing respite foster care with juvenile offenders to pour into teens lives in a more dramatic way. And to top it off, we have just become pregnant, which is beautiful and wonderful. But our busy world being filled with working to change people’s lives for the better and bring hope to the hopeless, we have become tired and cold (it’s very cold in Kansas this time of year).
Especially now that we have a baby on the way, we are more than ever eager to take a trip while it’s still just the two of us (with one tucked away) to celebrate this transition in our lives. We would love to get away to Belize and hideaway in the warmth of the sunshine and the warmth of the Belize people, see the ocean, and relax. We love the hispanic culture (we are learning spanish as much as our neighborhood is hispanic), hispanic food, and we have heard so much about Belize from our friends who have traveled there often.
Thank you for taking the time to read this!
