February is once again being celebrated as the “Month of Love” at Belize’s Chaa Creek, and the eco-resorts managers say 2012 will see the biggest Valentine’s love fest yet.
“Our Valentine’s Day celebrations became valentines week some years back, and the response was so positive, and the guests enjoyed it so much that we began devoting the entire month to love,” Bryony Fleming, the eco resorts food and beverage manager said.
Ms Fleming explained that since pioneering the concept of romance adventure in Belize, Chaa Creek has seen a steady rise in interest in their unique approach to weddings, honeymoons, couples’ retreats and other activities geared towards romantic getaways and significant life events.
“We started out 30 years ago with a focus on adventure, and as more people discovered that Chaa Creek was also the perfect place to get married, have a honeymoon or just enjoy a romantic interlude, we coined the phrase romantic adventures and it struck a chord with couples,” she said.
Ms Fleming credited Belize’s year round pleasant climate, beautiful environment and easy going, friendly atmosphere for encouraging romance.

We see people arrive here completely stressed, and the next day they’re walking through the gardens laughing and holding hands and you can just see the glow…”
In addition to the popular all-inclusive romance packages such as the Chaa Creek Wedding vacation and Honeymoon packages, Ms Fleming said couples will receive special attention and some romantic surprises during February, “We know it’s the little things that count, and sometimes a bit of Belizean chocolate – the food of love – or flowers in the room or scattered on the bed create their own magic. I’m also told our champagne candlelit dinners and special lover’s cocktails have an effect.”
With the arrival of 2012, Maya weddings allowing couples to exchange vows at ancient Maya temples and other Maya and chocolate themed packages are in demand, she said.
Ms Fleming also manages the Chaa Creek’s natural hilltop spa, and said that couples’ massages and special treatments also work wonders. “Our Chocolatissimo package, which includes a delicious chocolate body wrap must be experienced to be appreciated, but I can say from experience that it has resulted in some memorable moments and evenings.”
Canoe and horseback trips, mountain biking or just walking through rainforest trails and exploring Maya temples and ceremonial sites are just some activities couples enjoy together.
“If you’ve ever thought of having a romantic, exotic getaway with that special person, it’s really worth contacting Chaa Creek right now to see how we can work with you to create an affordable, once-in-a-lifetime experience that you’ll cherish forever. Having been married in the Chaa Creek gardens myself, I speak from experience and have no qualms in saying a romantic adventure package at Chaa Creek is something you’ll both cherish forever.
