Eco-tourism Vacation Sweepstakes – Essay#21

3 August 2010 No Comment

My mother was born and raised in Belize City in 1946.  She moved to the United States in the 1960’s but misses Belize!  She loves Belize but has only had the opportunity to travel back twice since she moved, once in 1980 and once in 2009.  I am planning a family vacation with my mother, wife and 1 year old son who will be visiting for the first time!  We would love to stay at the Lodge at Chaa Creek.  From what I’ve read and seen about the Lodge at Chaa Creek, my family will experience a once in a lifetime trip deep into the unspoiled Belize jungle.

One thing that attracts me to The Lodge at Chaa Creek is the mission of conservation and sustainable development that I too share.

“The goal of Chaa Creek is to establish a model of low-impact, sustainable development.  By stimulating interest in the environment, natural history and local culture we hope to demonstrate the long term benefits of ecotourism over other environmentally damaging options for development.”

This statement embodies what eco-tourism should be about.  Environmental awareness and sustainable development are so important because we only have one planet.  The Lodge at Chaa Creek should be a model for the rest of Central America, the Caribbean and the rest of the world to follow.  Visitors to The Lodge at Chaa Creek are afforded the luxury of experiencing Belize’s pristine jungle, natural history and local culture as well as taking excursions to other natural wonders such as the blue hole and the second largest barrier reef in the world.

Belize has so much to offer to the rest of the world.  Enjoy your stay in Belize at The Lodge at Chaa Creek.  I trust you will have an amazing experience and a vacation that you will never forget!
