September is one of our favourite months in Belize, and, with the country halfway through the always-exuberant September independence celebrations, having observed St George’s Caye Day on the tenth, partied at Carnival on the 12th, and getting ready for the big nationwide Independence Day celebrations on September 21st, now’s a good time catch our breath and reflect upon all those things that make September in Belize so special.
As with Chaa Creek’s Belize Natural History Centre, Chaa Creek Cares and our other projects, the Belize Zoo shows that true eco-tourism contributes to society and the environment while giving visitors the chance to reconnect with the nature. We all believe that the more people become familiar with the natural world, the more they’ll come to appreciate and protect it.

Planning a vacation to a new country can be a daunting task. Where do you begin? Where to start researching? Who do I contact first? It’s easy to get overwhelmed in the beginning, especially when you are not a frequent traveler. Here we have listed some of the most important things you need to know when arranging for your Belize vacation to make the preparation much easier and stress free.
Although the 2015 Eco-Kids SummerCamp is officially over, the lessons learned and the knowledge obtained about how to be ecologically sustainable and responsible will never leave the campers. But, more importantly, the bonds these campers made with each other, the counselors, and the Chaa Creek staff are now well molded!
Our Pack-a-Pound initiative gives our guests an opportunity to donate school supplies to classrooms in Belize. The procedure to donate to this cause entails substituting one pound of luggage for one pound of school supplies or by sending school supplies to Chaa Creek via mail. Chaa Creek would gather school supplies, pack them off by pound and then distribute to the schools and students who need it most.
The month of May is known to be education month in Belize, so with that in mind and as part of our community outreach and education programs Chaa Creek’s Naturalist Guides set out on a journey to conduct the annual “Butterflies on the Road” program.
