My Top Reasons Why I want to Be an Eco Kid

Belize Rainforests

I want to be an Eco Kid because I want to make a positive difference in my beautiful country Belize. I strongly believe that it is young people like myself that will play an instrumental role in the future of Belize and the lessons that will be taught in this camp will lay down the foundation to equip me with the proper knowledge to make the changes.

Stewards of the Earth by Erick Lopez

stewards of the earth

We are stewards of our home, Earth. Planet Earth is the greatest treasure God created and we need to appreciate it as our own kingdom of happiness. As guardians of our planet, everyone of us needs to make it our goal to protect and preserve all that our Earth encompasses. The forest, it’s flora and fauna, our rivers and seas, our atmosphere all depend on us, it’s inhabitant, to let it remain for our future generations. Becoming an Eco kid will give more reasons to want to care for our environment.

Taking Care of Nature

MPR5A

I would like to be an Eco kid and be able to go to the Eco Kids Camp because this camp looks as much fun as when I went to Cub Scout Camp at Camp Oakley. Being a cub scout I get to do a lot of activities outside at our meetings. As cubs scouts we look after nature and learn to take care of it by doing garbage cleanup and planting trees around our community. We also have fun with other scouts by playing games and learning to share with them.

Make a Difference + Keep Earth Beautiful + Keep Nature Beautiful

I want to be an eco-kid because I like this planet, but lately I have started to not like if so much. The earth is supposed to be beautiful, but with all the garbage on our streets, in the drains, and on the sidewalks, it is a little – no, not a little, a lot less beautiful. When we leave garbage everywhere, people will not want to visit our city. That will bring down our tourism and hurt our economy.

Christmas Peppers

christmas peppers

The Capsicum annuum is commonly known as the Christmas Tree Pepper and despite its name “annuum”, which means annual, it is not an annual. This variety of pepper originated in northwestern Brazil near Colombia and though this particular species is edible, it is commonly bred as an ornamental plant since its different colored fruits resemble the bulbs on a Christmas tree.

Children want to learn about the environment

I am Hazel; I would very much like to be an “Eco-Kid” because of my love for all animals, plants and things of nature. The responsibilities of an Eco-Kid involve the study of the habitats of animals and to help in the protection of homes of wild animals. As an Eco-Kid I will have the opportunity of working closely with private and public agencies such as The Lodge at Chaa Creek in the application of the principles and rules which guide us in living in peace and harmony with the earth and all its inhabitants.

It’s A Jungle Out There At The Belize Zoo

When the Belize Tourst Board offered me a press trip to Belize. I jumped at the opportunity. When they told me that upon arrival I would be whisked off to the Belize Zoo, I was skeptical if this first stop would be worth a visit. My feeling is that zoos are mostly depressing places. I figured that there would be imported Lions, Tigers, and Giraffes. I could not have been more wrong.

How to Take Action to Help the Environment

Everyday you go outside and when you look around your community you see many more things that you can do to help your environment look as clean as you. I look around my environment and say to myself ‘Had I’ve always been living in this area and not been paying much attention to it’.

Protecting Nature, Preserving Life

I want to be an Eco Kid so I can help preserve nature and work with others to heal back its injuries. As a small boy, I did not understand nature. Now that I have grown older, I understand that it is a life. It grows, lives and can die. It has feelings also.

Fascinating Nature: Why is nature important?

mayafarm11

My name is Adreano Finnetty. I am currently a Standard 6 student attending Holy Redeemer Primary School in Belize City. Since I was born, I realized how fascinated I am with nature and the Earth itself. I have taken time and effort to learn as much as possible about nature: from the simplest of organisms, like flowers with the power of pollination; and, bugs which lay millions of eggs every single day; to animals of brute strength like lions and sharks.

Ecokids: the new generation of superheroes!

DSC_0454

Every day we begin our daily routines in which we unknowingly are in touch with the ecology that surrounds us. Being an Ecokid means doing things to help our environment sustain itself like: turning off the water while we brush our teeth, volunteering to walk to school some days rather than riding in a car, disposing of our trash in the proper containers, recycling bottles and using plastic instead of Styrofoam containers for our lunch.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step

mother earth

Over recent years, Planet Earth has had serious changes in the Eco system. I have the power to stop these changes. My priority is to save our environment. Our environment is everything around us, from clean, fresh- flowing rivers with colorful fishes breeding and living in it to tall green trees waving their branches at the tapir, jaguar, toucan and many other species that call the rainforest home.

Connecting Kids With Nature Could Just Save the World

eco councilors

Being an eco-kid would give me the opportunity to learn more about nature and to be able to share that knowledge with my classmates, my brothers and sister and my other friends. This year, I would like to be a Chaa Creek Eco-Kid to learn more about how I can make a difference in this beautiful country called Belize. I wonder… what exactly would await me at Chaa Creek? I’d sure like to find out!!

Shifting trade routes may have led to Maya decline

The researchers found that prior to the fall of the Maya inland centers, obsidian tended to flow along inland riverine networks. But over time, this material began to be transported through coastal trade networks instead, with a corresponding increase in coastal centers’ prominence as inland centers declined.

The Eco Kids Rainforest Adventure Continues…

Chaa Creek has had a rich past as an ancient, bustling ancient Maya community and trade centre, as a vibrant part of the early British Honduras chicle and logging industry and as one of the many farms supplying San Ignacio town before becoming home to Belize’s first eco-resort. As part of our commitment to Green sustainability, all of us at Chaa Creek are continually promoting greater environmental awareness and respect for the things that make Belize so special.
