CNN’s recent acknowledgment of the “World of the Maya” as one of the top nine travel destinations for 2012 is one more indication that Belize’s year of the Maya 2012 celebrations are set to be a big hit with international visitors, Belize’s premier eco resort Chaa Creek reports.

“To be recognised by National Geographic as one of the top ten destinations in the entire world, well, that pretty much says it all,” Chaa Creek owner and GM Lucy Fleming said. “As lifelong travellers and having been in adventure travel for over three decades, we naturally recognise National Geographic as the world’s top travel authority. To be recognised by an organisation and publication we hold in such high esteem is truly an honour.”

Mayas Never Predicted December 2012 Apocalypse

One of history’s most famous and foreboding doomsday predictions might never have been made, according to a German researcher. His new interpretation of a 1,300-year-old tablet affirms that the ancient Maya regarded December 21, 2012, as a moment of great importance—but not, as some believe, because they foresaw an apocalypse on that date.

When Lonely Planet highlights a destination, it definitely becomes less lonely, but not to worry – the Belize leg of La Ruta Maya remains one of the most uncrowded, laid back and friendliest ways to explore the heartland of the fascinating ancient Maya civilisation.

The ancient Maya civilization’s many achievements include a written language, advanced mathematics, sophisticated surgery, and astrological calculations that continue to astound scholars… and the list goes on.
But for many people, the Maya’s greatest achievement is something loved all over the world today—chocolate.

A Green appreciation of Steve Jobs and a fond farewell from Chaa Creek

Like us, Steve Jobs felt a responsibility towards environmental sustainability , and translated that responsibility into his company’s operations and practices. However, this was not something he publicised and, in our view, never received enough credit for. Also, and by his own admission, his Green commitment took time to develop.

The Lodge at Chaa Creek has once again been awarded the Green Globe Certification “as a mark of quality, sustainability and climate action,” according to Green Globe.

The top 10 reasons to travel to Belize

xunantunich-ruin1

I’m going to Belize in 2 weeks! I have been invited by the Belize Tourist Board on a “FAM” trip. This is travel industry lingo for “familiarization”. I, along with a bunch of other travel industry professionals, are going on a somewhat insane itinerary: we will visit 27 hotels in 5 days! I wouldn’t call that fun, but many of these are places I have heard of for years but never gotten to, and I am looking forward to seeing them. We will be staying in San Ignacio, Mountain Pine Ridge, Placencia, Hopkins, and San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. I’ll be posting more about the trip when I get there.

We should help the environment by recycling; reusing, reducing .some of the ways we can help is carpooling throwing garbage in its proper place, not burning garbage, planting more tree, using less electricity ,and more solar power. If we do not keep our environment clean it would no longer be a beautiful and special place to life our life. Summer Solstice 2011: The Longest Day and Shortest Night of the Year.

Today June 21st is summer solstice which means that today will be the longest day and the shortest night of the year. According to Wikipedia, summer solstice occurs when the Earth’s and moon axial tilt is most inclined towards the sun which is why the days near the solstice have the most daylight of any days of the year.

Why should conservation be important to kids?

But what attracts me the most is the traditional healing and the three R’s, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Reduce the pollution, Reuse glass bottles and Recycle plastic is all very important because they are a basic rule that makes our world a better place to live in. I live at a ranch so traditional healing sounds good because almost every day someone gets a bruise or scrape or a hurt. And before I forget my school makes us do posters for Earth Day.

All of Andrew Harper’s recommended properties possess exceptional character, a commitment to classic hospitality and a profound sense of place. Chaa Creek Summer Camp To Teach Children To Love Nature

We only have one planet and we need to and we need to conserve our resources. Imagine the destruction one little disruption like pollution, deforestation, soil erosion, etc may cause. Pollution is a serious problem. The contamination of the environment may lead to diseases and creates an inhabitable place. It is very important that we have a clean and safe place to live in. If we don’t conserve our ecosystem endangered species of plants and animals may die out. This affects the food webs and the normal conditions of the habitats.

Top 7 Foods (and Three Drinks) in Belize

Stew-chicken-rice-beans

Belize is a wonderful melting pot of culinary extremes; a tantalizing mixture of Caribbean spices, African vegetables and Central American cooking styles can be found in all corners of Belize. The seafood is delicious and the lobster is world-class, particularly along the Northeast part of the country. The following is a list of my favorite foods in Belize

Keep Nature Beautiful – Protect Life on Planet

Belize has many natural beauties which we need to protect and preserve. We as young children growing up in today’s society need to be educated at first hand experiences and learn how to protect our jewel in the Belize forest. By educating us about our natural resources, it helps to be aware of the importances and reasons why God created them.

Summer Vacation Kids’ Camps

I want to be an eco-kid for many reasons first of all I want to experience the outdoors and most of the activities you listed in your letter and secondly I am a kid and we kids like to run around and try new things, well some of us like it.

Aspiring to be an Eco- Kid

I read the advertisement over and over it sound very interesting I said this is awesome; I want to learn about biodiversity of plant and animals in the environment; conserving natural resources and more so to learn more about the ancient Maya history of which I am. I want to learn their culture including their traditional healing medicinal plant. I am also interesting in bird watching knowing all the species. If I cannot afford to go to a high school then I would at least be able to something in my life. It is very interesting to learn more things when you are young it will help others get more involve. Although I am a Maya I want to get first hand information about sites that our ancestor made.

Wildlife Conservation & Eco Kids

I want to be a eco kid so that I may learn to recycle things and make a better place out of our country. No matter how small I am I can always help my home country, especially if I live in Belize.

Conserve & Protect Mother Earth!

I really love nature and everything there is in nature like the birds when they sing, the rushing waters in rivers, creeks and lakes, the noise of the wind, and all the little animals you can find in the wild. I especially like the colourful attracting birds like the scarlet macaws, blue jays, toucans, and parrots.
